Celebrity Divorces of 2014
As we say adieu to 2014, these celebrity couples said their good-byes as husbands and wives this past year including one celebrity who put the phrase “‘Consciously Uncoupling’ into the divorce lexicon.
Chris Rock and Malaak Compton-Rock
Chris Rock ended 2014 on a sour note with his wife of 19-years as they head towards a bitter divorce after the comedian filed official papers in December of 2014.
Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin
In March of 2014, actress and Iron Man star Gwyneth Paltrow announced her separation from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin after 10 years together on her website Goop.com. She sent the press and social media into a frenzy when she used the term a “Consciously Uncoupling” to describe their parting, which has now become a running joke when discussing celebrity divorces.
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton
Another actress and singer pair played out the end of their 8-year marriage in the media. In February, Paula Patton filed for divorce from Robin Thicke citing “irreconcilable differences. He famously tried to win her back with a love song, and hints at his concerts and during the Billboard Music Awards, but to no avail. He has since moved on.
Cuba Gooding Jr. and Sara Kapfer
In April, Cuba Gooding, Jr.’s wife Sara Kapfer filed for divorce from the Academy Award winner after 20 years of marriage.
Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald
The Twilight actress and American Idol alum Paul McDonald had a whirlwind romance that lasted three years before Reed filed divorce papers in March of 2014. Reed quickly rebounded with “Vampire Diaries” hottie Ian Somerhalder.
Kris Jenner and Bruce Jenner
After 22-years of marriage, the “Keeping up with the Kardashians” momager filed for divorce from the former athlete and gold medal winner in September of 2014. Neither party contested the divorce and settled on the terms fairly quickly with the final papers going through at rapid speed by December.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom
Divorce for Kris Jenner’s daughter isn’t going as smoothly with Lamar dragging out the divorce for the youngest of the Kardashian sisters. Khloe filed for divorce in December of 2013, but his no-show has proven difficult for the divorce proceedings.
Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally
Things got ugly for the former “View” host and her short marriage when her husband Lamar Sally filed for an official separation in May, and requested full custody of their unborn child via a surrogate. She fought back with divorce papers, and the two are currently fighting it out in court.
