Ed and Florence Shevick were married 70 years ago and have never stopped holding each other’s hands.
The Woodland Hills, California couple met in the ’40s and walked down the aisle after Ed returned from World War II. They share two children, one grandchild and a great-grandchild, but it’s their mutual devotion to each other that has propelled their lifelong relationship.
“At this point in my life, the most important thing I can do is try to make her healthy and happy, that’s what I got to do,” the 93-year-old vet said of his wife.
And Florence – who goes by the nickname Toots – couldn’t agree more.
“We look out for each other, and he’s the most important thing in my life, and I’m the most important in his life,” the 91-year-old added.
As far as the secret to their storybook romance, the pair say it’s all about staying upbeat.
“We have a good sense of humor,” he said, as she chimed in, “We laugh a lot.”
They also make sure to end the day the sweetest way possible.
