Charlize Theron has finally broken her silence on her sudden split from Sean Penn.

After dating for a year and a half, the A-list actress broke it off from the Milk star with rumors claiming she immediately and suddenly shut off all communication aka ghosting.

“There is this need to sensationalize things,” the 40-year-old told WSJ Magazine. “When you leave a relationship there has to be some f***ing crazy story or some crazy drama. And the f***ing ghosting thing, like literally I still don’t even know what it is.”

In actuality the Mad Max star says the decision to break up was mutual.

“It’s just its own beast. We were in a relationship and then it didn’t work anymore. And we both decided to separate. That’s it,” she said bluntly.

Theron also shot down false reports that said Penn was going to adopt her four-year-old son Jackson.

“It’s not something that happens in 18 months. You can’t do that to a child,” she added.

Charlize has since adopted another child, a daughter named August.

She and Penn will have to reunite – on the big screen-  when their film The Last Face hits theaters later this year.
