Former ‘Growing Pains’ Star Kirk Cameron Says Wives Should ‘Follow Their Husband’s Lead’

Ultra religious former child star Kirk Cameron has some very old fashioned ideas when it comes to women’s roles in marriage.

The 45-year-old evangelical Christian spewed some controversial advice for wives in a new interview.

“Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband,” the former Growing Pains actor told the Christian Post. “When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.”

The father of six continued: “A lot of people don’t know that marriage comes with instructions. And, we find them right there in God’s word [in the Bible].”

Kirk also offered up a bit of direction to men by telling them “to love their wives and not to tell their wives that they need to submit to them.” Let us get this straight, Kirk. Women don’t need to submit, they should just want to?!

The former heartthrob is no stranger to controversy having previously caused hellfire with his backwards ideas on gays and same-sex marriage.

Kirk walked away from Hollywood years ago to concentrate on making low-budget religious films, such as Left Behind and Saving Christmas.

He and his former Growing Pains co-star Chelsea Noble – who also gave up her promising career – have been married for 25 years and have six children.

Do you agree with Kirk’s views on marriage?
