There is a season for everything including divorces. New research from University of Washington sociologists found that divorces filings peak in the months of March and August.

The study analyzed divorce filings in the state of Washington between 2001 and 2015. What they found was seasonal, biannual patterns of filings for divorce. Researchers surmise the winter and the summer holidays seem to be off limits due to family obligations, and the hope that things will get better over time.

In past studies, the New Year holiday was said to be the peak time for divorces, but the new findings reveal the decision may come at that time, but a spouse needs time to get their finances in order, find a lawyer and still keep the courage to file.

The August date symbolizes the end of summer for the children, and for most families, a family vacation that may be taken to soften the blow that’s coming . But how will that affect children’s school year.

It seems like there is no right time to file for divorce.

Hollywood Today Live talked about the divorce findings.
