Divorce Court’s Bailiff Joe Catalano, Sr. brings over 25 years of professional law enforcement experience and training to Judge Lynn Toler’s courtroom.

The former United States Marine and retired San Bernardino County Sergeant joined “Divorce Court” in 1999 when he was recruited to serve as Bailiff on the long-running court show.

Joseph Catalano, Sr, a native of Los Angeles, joined the United States Marine Corps soon after graduating high school where he worked on the Harrier aircraft, and ultimately rose to the rank of Sergeant.  Stationed in Yuma, Arizona, he was honorably discharged from the military and soon joined the city of Yuma Police Department as a patrolman. He became a SWAT Team member and Field Training Officer during his time with the Yuma Police Department.  He later moved back to Southern California and transferred to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

While at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Joe worked in various departments including SWAT and the narcotics task force. He specialized in as a field training officer and firearms instructor. Joe reached the rank of Captain becoming a station commander. Joe was also a key member of the command staff during the devastating wild fires that hit the San Bernardino Mountains in 2003, 2006 and 2007.

Joe holds a Bachelors Degree in Vocational Education and a California Lifetime Teaching Credential for Administration of Justice.
